an entire thread about clubs closing / club culture in crisis, and not a single mention of the workers at these clubs. there never is. only the interests of djs, promoters, & patrons are relevant, only they are the ones with enough agency to impact the circumstances, apparently.

i could give a fuck about clout, being cool or becoming famous, and increasingly i've got a lower & lower tolerance for anyone who clearly does. like pls i am begging some of you to get some perspective and see that there are far more important things than your dj career

tbh sometimes i am very lonely in this game. i desperately crave community and instead mostly encounter cliques & transactional relationships. that's why i do things like open decks + book club, it helps me feel genuine connection and roots everything in a sense of togetherness

i love clubbing in brooklyn, raving in general and electronic dance music of all kinds & spent the last 7 years trying to facilitate that as much as possible for everyone until i was fired bc i advocated for my coworkers & gaza. yet not a peep on this website about that!

when it comes to the 'art of djing' i actually think everyone being a dj is a good thing! the issue for me is too many dj -careers- tbh. or when djing becomes one's entire personality (so insufferable, altho be honest who among us hasn't been there at least briefly before 😅)
