Marching in a parade in Highland Park, buying groceries in Buffalo, learning in class in Uvalde, walking through a neighborhood in St. Louis - we want the freedom to live our lives without the fear of violence. Get the guns off our streets.

Stripping unemployment benefits just to force Missourians into jobs without a living wage or benefits will only increase the burden of poverty on our working families. Want to get people back to work? Pay them a minimum of $15/hr.

Proud to accept @POTUS’ invitation to represent St. Louis at the @WhiteHouse signing ceremony for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal on Monday. With $9 billion headed to Missouri, the deal will help St. Louis improve our roads, support public transit, & expand internet access.

St. Louis has a long history of welcoming refugees and immigrants, and today we build on that legacy. As leaders of the St. Louis region, @DrSamPage and I invite Afghan families to build new lives in our communities as new Americans.

"Transgender Missourians deserve to live their authentic lives. The anti-trans bills passed by the Missouri legislature are ugly, hateful attacks on our youth that will drive them and their families out of our state in search of a more welcoming place to live.
"In St. Louis, we stand in solidarity with all who are fighting for the right to live freely, regardless of their gender identity or expression. Our LGBTQIA+ community partners have been on the frontlines to protect our transgender residents, and we are ready to continue working with them."

In the 1800s, Missouri law allowed enslaved people to sue for their freedom. These were the Freedom Suits, and nearly 400 people courageously sued for their rights. I was proud to join today’s groundbreaking of the Freedom Suits Memorial honoring these brave individuals.

First they come for our bodies - then they come for voting rights, civil rights, LGBTQ rights. If there was ever a time to hit the alarm and break the glass, this is it. Congress must take action to protect abortion rights and keep these bans off of our bodies. #MyBodyMyChoice
The Supreme Court has voted to strike down Roe v. Wade, according to an initial draft majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito and obtained by POLITICO. “We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled,” Alito writes. politico.com/news/2022/05/0…

St. Louis welcomes anyone looking to build a better life, and our region has already resettled hundreds of Afghan refugees. I joined @RepCori, @JasonKander, the @iistl and more at @flystl today to let the federal government know: Our city is ready to accept more refugee families!

Abortion is healthcare, and it should be safe and accessible to all who need it. Missourians have already been living in a post-Roe reality, & St. Louisans will take action to protect our rights until Congress does what it should have done decades ago: codify Roe into law. (1/2)
