SCHR is reaching out to attorneys representing people named in the indictment & locating attorneys for those without counsel. Our current priority: ensure those indicted are released on bond, esp. given the horrendous culture at the Fulton Jail where 9 people have died this year.
"STATEMENT: COP CITY RICO INDICTMENT, First Amendment Bridge Project. If you are interested in joining The First Amendment Lawyer Bridge project at SCHR, please contact us at bridge@schr.org."

The above appears as white and yellow text on a blue background, above the First Amendment Lawyer Bridge Logo, with two blue and yellow arches, resembling double-lines as in a street divider, and the handle @southerncenter.

With the deepest sorrow, we mourn the loss of our beloved Policy Director, Marissa McCall. Marissa’s light burned so brightly, illuminating the path forward. Her sheer brilliance and boundless passion transformed everyone she met and every room she entered.
Purple flowers on a white background with a photo of Marissa smiling, and the words, "In Loving Memory of Marissa McCall, Sep. 10, 1983 - May 21, 2021."

In 7 states — Arizona, Arkansas, Alabama, Connecticut, Kentucky, Tennessee & Florida — laws prohibit people who owe any court debt from voting. That is profoundly undemocratic.

Today, we are filing a civil rights suit against the city of Cartersville, GA, & others. Cartersville & Bartow County officers swarmed a predominantly black & brown house party, entered w/o a warrant, & arrested 60+ people for less than 1 oz of marijuana.

Maurice Jimmerson has been held in jail without a trial and without representation for 10 years. He's one of many whose sixth amendment rights are being violated in jails across GA. “This problem is at a crisis level right now and is likely to get worse.”
