Even Awkwafina gets roles because of her exaugurated stereotypical Asian looks. High cheek bones, slanted slit eyes, teeth, flat face. Hollywood deliberately does that so that people get to see how ugly those Asians are.
In Japan there are restaurants and clubs who strictly won't let foreigners in. But when a lome incident happens in China, it's all about the evil communist Chinese people.
Has nothing to do with Eurocentric or having "Caucasian" look. For example, this Thai celebrity is considered fair for all East Asians. She certainly doesn't have any "Caucasian" look. We Asians are better able to detect the subtle proportions of facial features.
They do this in Thailand too. Inspectors will come to markets to test all scales of vendors to see they're calibrated correctly and not cheating on weight.
