Don’t tell anyone, but it is possible to never be in traffic in LA 👋✌️

“In response, some members are not taking their vehicles in. They’re taking public transportation.” In other words, working exactly as intended. 👏👏

What’s happening in NYC is an inspiration and should be replicated in the top 10 cities in the US, starting with LA next.
"People told us they left their cars at home and took transit for the first time." This is the way.

Judging the success of a state based on gas prices is one of the most car brained things I’ve seen in a while.
Californians are still too blinded to see that the rest of the nation is thriving, while we languish under Gavin Newsom. Gavin Newsom is a failure.

Runyon Canyon is on fire. I’ve never seen anything like this. Born and raised in LA. All of West Hollywood and Hollywood is now under threat. Stay safe!!

In LA this would be a 5 year feasibility study followed by another 5 years of community input. In Paris, they just build and get stuff done.
Paris really is very busy turning itself into an Active Travel city of the future. Major reallocation of road space engineering at Gare du Nord

We’d study this for 15 years and it would cost $1B

It’s amazing how much time we waste as a society fighting against desperately needed things (like more housing) because of parking and traffic. Somehow it all keeps coming back to cars, and the way we’ve chosen to design our cities.
This wasn’t an episode of Parks & Recreation; it was over 30 neighbors (condo owners) showing up to express their sincere outrage & anger that a developer would propose a 225-unit complex on an open field next to a Whole Foods in the midst of a housing crisis. #a2council

Why don’t “electric cars” solve it for me? Because my beef with so many cars in cities is only 25% tailpipe pollution. Other 75% is safety, livability, housing cost, density, space for bikes and buses, noise, our kids unable to bike to school. Electric cars solve none of that.

Why does Paris have massive shade trees with no issues with broken sidewalks and LA has tree roots uplifting the concrete and breaking all our sidewalks?

A $3,000 e-bike is viewed as expensive. A $15,000 car is viewed as inexpensive. That has to change for our planet to survive and our cities to be livable.

One of the best things to come out of this election is Ocasio-Cortez, more than anything, because with no background in politics she just went for it and won. And now giving us an insiders view from a 20-something year old. Makes anyone feel like they could do it too.
In my on-boarding to Congress, I get to pick my insurance plan. As a waitress, I had to pay more than TWICE what I’d pay as a member of Congress. It’s frustrating that Congressmembers would deny other people affordability that they themselves enjoy. Time for #MedicareForAll.
