Simple truths about city planning & transportation.
When I'm not engineering safe & healthy streets, I'm running my mouth about it.
- People said they don't like red light cameras, so here's another enforcement strategy.
00:00 - "People told us they left their cars at home and took transit for the first time." This is the way.
00:00 - 5% of people ride bicycles, so we can't do anything for them. 5% of people drive electric cars, so we're planning a national charging network.
- If you ride anywhere in the US, you ride on government roads.Replying to @BoenauIt’s called freedom. I have never ridden on Government transportation and never will. Most places don’t have Government transportation.
- The odds of your child getting kidnapped are about 1 in a million. The odds of a person born in 2021 dying in a traffic crash are about 1 in 93. American parents act like these stats are reversed. They're paranoid about the rare kidnapping but naive about the common drive.
- Replying to @RichmondRCMPNext from the safety experts: "Why deaf residents should not be allowed outside"
- We're not prepared for Baby Boomers aging. 🚨 Up to 40 million 80 year-olds are going to be driving everywhere b/c that's the only option. Missing middle housing, transit options, traffic safety -- these are massive Boomer issues whether or not they realize it.
- Car Brain is when you treat people differently when you're sitting in your car. Once you see it you can't unsee it.
- If journalists covered crime the way they cover traffic crashes:
- "Walkable neighborhoods are pointless in the winter because nobody wants to be outside."Winter in Boston 🏒 ⛄️ ❄️
