- So many people are enjoying the Aurorae, both Northern (Borealis) and Southern (Australis!). But, surely you want to know how amazing the science is? This short🧵is about the atomic origins of the green and red light. 1/10

- National Tragedy: Big Prawn has lost an antenna due to Cyclone Alfred. Now can only receive AM.
- It’s blue due to vibrational overtone absorption in O-H stretch. Also why Neptune and Uranus is blue (methane C-H vibrations in that case). Spectroscopy is everywhere.
