Per the CDC, the divorce rate began increasing in 1963, reaching an all-time high in 1979. By 1974, the divorce rate was already three-quarters of the way to its eventual peak.
1962: 9.4 per 1,000 married women
1974: 19.3
1979: 22.8 (all-time high)
1984: 21.5
2018: 15.7
