Everyone complains that Financial Independence is only for people with very high incomes. It’s not. Because really it comes down to honing a rare skill, that is equally difficult to learn for most: The skill is deciding NOT to buy it, even when you DO have the money for it.

Amazingly enough, I'm coming up on a year of Tesla Y ownership. mrmoneymustache.com/the-model-y-ex… This car is so good, and is now so cheap considering its quality (about the same net price as a Toyota Rav4, Subaru Outback or even the new Toyota Prius) that I am kind of shocked that

    The Model Y Experiment
In May of 2023, after many years of successful delay I let myself buy what is probably the ultimate no-compromise, do-everything vehicle currently in production, the Tesla Model Y long range all wh…

A squat rack is really a physical therapist, psychiatrist, chiropractor, prescription drug plan, wellness / life coach, fountain of youth, butt enhancement surgeon and retirement wealth booster all in one. A pretty good deal for a few hundred bucks all-in.

Yeah! Best news I've seen in @TheEconomist in years: - Cities are cutting back on car roads/parking to make space for people walking+biking - Car-free 20somethings have doubled to 25% - featuring an appearance from @TheWarOnCars ! archive.is/qGqco

Millennials need to be willing to work longer than their parents did... OR spend slightly less money on ridiculous shit than their peers do.

The Best Revenge is Living Well. If you're pissed off at someone or something, you can win the battle before it begins with 3 steps: - go out for a walk right now - write out a productive to-do list when you get back - then make yourself a kickass salad later tonight. Win!

Strange Fact: A gas-powered car burns more energy just to idle in a parking lot than an electric car uses to cruise down the road at 55MPH.

The problem with the FIRE movement is that they tell you to do things like ride your bike to the grocery store. Look what I had to endure this morning, just because I'm too cheap to use my cars.

WOW! @CapitalOne Just froze my bank account (and all $309,000 of cash I had collected for an upcoming house purchase), and said I have to call to release it. But then they put me on hold and never answer. 25:08 and counting on my SECOND attempt. Feels like I have been robbed.

Whoa, surprising variation in insurance quotes for this new car. Looks like I'll have to leave the long-time cost leader @GEICO after almost 20 years. Tesla insurance seems best because it combines Telematics to reward safe driving, but not in an annoying

Neat math: total cost of Hurricane Harvey ($200B) is roughly equal to cost to replace all remaining US coal power plants (200GW) with solar.

My next article is on how building cities for people instead of cars will make us all richer. Just one example: it turns out every random midsized intersection in every city wastes enough space for at least FORTY EIGHT pretty nice two bedroom apartments!

WOW. I finally got around to transferring my biggest 401k out of @AscensusInc , and should have done it long ago! Backstory: @Vanguard_Group got out of the business of offering employer 401ks last year, unfortunately. But I trusted them enough to leave my account invested with

Let's hope this nicely produced segment captures some more consumer hearts and minds! There's an awful lot of MMM's face in here, but also some great interviews with other Colorado early retiree friends and their families.
