- We are saddened to hear that past Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra principal flautist Atarah Ben-Tovim has died. Known to thousands of children who grew up in the 60s and 70s simply as “Atarah”, she will always be an important part of the history of Liverpool Philharmonic.
- Our beautiful art deco hall first opened today 19 June 1939, designed by Architect Herbert J. Rowse.
- After 41 years with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, violinist Jim Hutton is retiring. It was Jim’s childhood dream to play in a professional orchestra, and we’re so glad he brought his talent to ours. Thank you for everything, Jim, and all the best for the future!
- We’re deeply saddened to hear of the passing of musical icon, Burt Bacharach. The writer behind some of the greatest songs of the 20th century, it was an honour to have him perform here at the Hall back in 2016. He will be greatly missed.
- After 38 amazing seasons, Ian Tracey will retire as Chorusmaster of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir next Summer, making him the longest-serving Chorusmaster in the history of the Choir. Thank you for everything Ian! You can read more here: liverpoolphil.com/news/press-rel…
