So many people have responded to this the last 12 hours sharing their personal stories... so I’m sharing it on twitter in hopes I can let even just one more person know their not alone 🖤

Since so many players are talking about @DyaishaFair & how she didn’t get enough press attention this year (AGREED). I wanted to reshare this feature we worked with ESPN on that aired during ACC Tournament. Wish ESPN played it during our NCAA games too!

There is no such thing as a day off when you’re an SID. Wonder why there’s so much turnover in this industry? Maybe it’s because even when we get to take our time off we are expected to work. A true day off doesn’t exist, and if it does, there’s no shot you’ll get 2 in a row.

The answer is simple: You don’t. Hire more staff. Admins can’t keep asking SIDs to do the jobs of what 5-6 people should be doing. Burnout is real. Too many good, talented people leaving the biz because they don’t have the help/resources they need.
How do we ask SIDs to keep doing all the work they did 20 years ago plus the 24/7 of creative/digital/social?

Imagine getting rid of all the athletic trainers and sending student-athletes to the health center for medical treatment. Insane right? What Vanderbilt is doing with the athletic communications office is essentially the same. It’s time to STOP devaluing the role of a SID.

Behind the scenes of working in sports…

Four months ago we listened as your Dr. told us you’d need chemo that would last until October. It sounded like forever. Your strength and spirit made time fly. It was an honor to share this moment with you today. Chemo is over!!🥳🎉 I love ya @Tianamanga 💕 #Tough4T

Not sure who needs to hear it but… It’s just a job. It’s not a life.

The media was so quick to jump on the NCAA for inequality between the men’s and women’s basketball tournaments but continue to do it themselves. Maybe more people would watch/support women’s sports if they were covered fairly 🤔

How cool is it that two of the most talked about athletes in the world right now are Megan Rapinoe and Coco Gauff? 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Girl Power.

2 years ago I changed the @cusewbb name on Twitter to “‘Cuse Hoops” because frankly, why does women’s basketball need to be prefaced with the word “women’s” when men’s teams do not have the word “men’s” listed? Also stop calling grown female athletes “girls” they are WOMEN.

The end of an era. Tiana’s last postgame press conference at Syracuse was emotional for everyone last night. It’s been one of the greatest joys of my career being by your side for this journey @Tianamanga🍊🧡

Tiana will probably block me if I post one more sappy thing on social media about her today so I’ll keep it short. Thanks to everyone who showed love today. You’ll never know how much it means. @Tianamanga is back. @CuseWBB is back. My heart is so full 🧡🍊

SIDs, and other support staff, are some of the lowest paid employees in athletics departments. So not only are the wages 🗑️ we are expected to work so much outside of what we are paid for. But hey, we work in sports and should be grateful because it’s “fun” 🙃
