Labour said before the election they'd undo things that have made England's schools some of the best in the world.
They won fair-and-square. They've every right to take more control over how schools are run day-to-day - but it's still a really bad idea.

- Breaking my Twitter silence to say how chuffed I am to join @WoottonTrust in the autumn. It's long had a place in my heart: I started teaching there in 2003 & my girls attend/will attend @STEMcollege. Until then: lots still to do at DfE!We are pleased to announce that, @lehain has been appointed as our new Executive Headteacher. We look forward to welcoming Mark in the autumn term!

- On the 1st day back from half term, @WoottonUpper had The Call. Inspectors were professional from start to finish & saw WUS exactly as we are. We told them where we think we've got to - and they agreed. Well done to Carrie & the entire WUS team!
