- Advice for scholars: next time you lecture on Kant and revolutions at “Downing” (@DarwinCollege) Cambridge, make sure your hair is neatly tied and that you’re not blonde. Or else your research impact will be on the @spectator libido section.

- The idea that unauthorised “Albanian males” (is that a new human species?) coming to the UK can “easily” get a visa is a joke. I’ve been in the UK 14 years & my brother has never visited, not once. He doesn’t know where I live, he has never seen my kids school. Why? 1/5

- I can never walk past a KFC without thinking of my mum’s first time in NYC: Weren’t the Americans fighting against the People’s Army of Vietnam, she suddenly asked. Sure, I said. “Then why do they have these photos of Ho Chi Minh everywhere?”
- Replying to @lea_ypithat my mother (a 70 year old ‘Albanian female’) had not “satisfied the consular office that her intentions are those of a genuine visitor”. Ask any Albanian you meet and they will have at least one story like this. It’s very likely they will have more. 5/5
