With restrictions likely to be extended, there’s an argument for allowing hardware / garden stores open on a restricted basis, click and collect or home delivery, similar to how takeaways / restaurants are operating. Let people be productive and beat cabin fever on #lockdown.

- Replying to @EOBroinTaking 4% discount factor (which I believe is standard on treasury projects), allowing for 2% pa rent inflation, looking at at grossed up NPV of c. 340k. Take off the 2% and it’s 196k. Both a long way off 800k? Plus add the opportunity cost of capital now for other projects.
- . @EamonRyan is one of the most decent, honourable, sincere politicians I know. Worked with him on broadcasting reform, social media regulation, renewable energy & many other issues. As has been said “it is the man in the arena..who errs..because there is no effort without error”
- Catching the bus back to Kildare following my appointment by @MichealMartinTD as Minister of State for Transport, Environment & Climate Action. A busy road ahead no doubt & an honour to serve my country in a new role.
- In today’s @IrishTimes - “How Sinn Fein would fix the housing crisis” Piece = 31 Paragraphs Problem restatement / Govt bashing = 27 paragraphs. Sinn Fein ‘solutions’ = 4/5 paragraphs. Those ‘solutions’ in full = “remove red tape”;”political will”:”determination”;”investment” 🤷♂️
- After 24 hours in hiding, @EOBroin finally tried to fix his sums, but got it wrong again and within moments deleted his tweet! This is even worse than the last one. He seems to have time-discounted the entire sum rather than indexing. Schools need to reopen faster than we thought
- Replying to @TrickstersworldSometimes it’s important to look beyond the photo and cheap headline. “Streets of Naas” 5k Charity race for popular local family. Proud to support and participate in this event and dozens more like it.
- Let’s look at this in Dublin - do we really need all cars back after lockdown? Let’s enhance public transport and other modes instead and leave city congestion behind us. Milan announce ambitious scheme to reduce car use after lockdown | @guardian
- If the #BrianStanley allegation is considered serious enough to refer to Gardai, then why did SF sit on it for three months? Conducting their own quasi inquiry on an allegedly criminal matter? Bizarre and totally inappropriate. 🤷♂️Statement from SF leader Mary Lou McDonald on resignation of Brian Stanley. Says the matter has now been referred to gardai.
- How I came to a place I never thought I’d be. But mine’s only 1 vote. 3 million will have their say. The people are sovereign so over to you.
- Elected! Thank you to the people of North Kildare for sending me back to the 33rd Dáil. I will represent you to the best of my ability and am truly humbled to receive your support. #ge2020
- Here’s why we can’t abandon all restrictions (much as might like to)👇, Delta spiking rapidly across Europe⚠️Bad trend—Netherlands reports a near vertical >800% increase in new #COVID19 cases in 1 week. Greece 🇬🇷 and Spain 🇪🇸 nearly matching that surge. @WHO now reports over 2 dozen countries with “near vertical” sharp rises in cases—mostly #DeltaVariant. Pandemic “Act 2” has begun.🧵
