Construction workers had the highest male occupation morality rate from suicide between 2011 and 2015, so if discussing feelings is 'woke' then this seems like a very good and important thing

HS2 would reduce the Birmingham to Nottingham journey time from 74 minutes to 26 minutes
"I'm sure the people of Birmingham would really rather have the option of going by faster train to Nottingham, Derby and other places like that, rather than go to London maybe half an hour quicker," Labour peer Lord Berkeley tells @KayBurley. trib.al/YKanzN3 📺 Sky 501

I am grateful to all those who have contacted me about the Assisted Dying for Terminally Ill Adults Bill. Now that the Bill has been published, I wanted to set out my reasons why I cannot, personally, support it. A text version is linked here: laurence4northfield.com/posts/assisted…

It was a pleasure to host @BCFC's owners at Parliament earlier this week for a briefing to local MPs about progress on the ground relocation plan and potential investment in transport to the Wheels Park site.

It is the honour of my life to be Labour's candidate for Northfield. It is a privilege to represent @NorthfieldCLP and fight for change after 14 years of Tory failure. I will work hard every day to deliver Labour's plan and repay the faith that has been shown in me.
Congratulations to Laurence Turner who has been selected as Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Northfield 🌹

Under the Tories, seven Sure Start centres were closed in the Northfield constituency. Labour is investing in the best start in life for thousands more children.
Children growing up in our country deserve the best start in life. Building on the legacy of Sure Start, we’re opening Best Start Family Hubs in every local authority. That’s the difference Labour makes. theguardian.com/society/2025/j…

After East Coast was privatised to Virgin, punctuality fell from 82% to 73%.
There’s very little that annoys me in life, but people turning up late really does. Punctuality shows organisation and respect for others virg.in/3WL

HS2's business case assumes that ticket prices would be in line with the conventional network's pricing

You start with far-fetched resolutions ... and you end up in the grotesque chaos of a Green Party - a GREEN PARTY - lining up with the Telegraph in an attempt to block investment in public transport.
Yes - we need to stop throwing good money after bad on #HS2 telegraph.co.uk/business/2020/…

Labour was founded to advance working people's interests in Parliament. The New Deal is that cause in 2024. It was great to catch up with @labourunionsuk this evening. Now we are going to turn it into something real.

Statutory Sick Pay is rising by 0.5% (50p a week) from next month while projected inflation in 2021 is 1.5% (CPI) and 2.5% (RPI). The Treasury is cutting SSP rates in real terms at the height of a pandemic. This is an utter failure of public policy and leadership.
