- I'm very pleased to announce a new journal that will be rolling out in 2020: the Journal of Political Institutions and Political Economy. Or JPIPE. It will be published by @now_publishers, who also publish the @qjps_editors.
- I recently submitted a paper written with a PhD student who will be on the market this Fall to @The_JOP. It sat at the "manuscript submitted" stage for more than 5 weeks before I pulled it today and sent it elsewhere. Outrageous. The next editorial team has to be better.
- Last day as EIC of the JOP -- 6 full years! (Thread with some thoughts below.)
- The Oxford Handbook of Historical Political Economy (coedited with @jaredcrubin) is online. New chapters are posted at the end of every month. Current chapters up from @vcharnysh, @stasavage, @MarkKoyama, @MigrationNerd & others.
- Some news: I’m in the early stages of creating a new blog devoted to Historical Political Economy (tentatively called The Broad Street Pump). My partners in crime include @AliCirone, @sgehlbach, @jaredcrubin, @jamesfeigenbaum, Tracy Dennison, and Vicky Fouka. More soon!
- Very pleased to announce that @jaredcrubin and I have contracted to edit The Oxford Handbook of Historical Political Economy. Many thanks to @EditorMolly for all her help!
- My introductory chapter in The Oxford Handbook of Historical Political Economy w/@jaredcrubin dropped today! Entitled, "Historical Political Economy: What Is It?", we attempt to define what we believe will be (is?) a new, interdisciplinary field of study.
- Very pleased to have been received 2023 V. O. Key Award for my book, Congress and the First Civil Rights Era: 1861-1918 (with Justin Peck). Very grateful to the Award Committee: @AngieMaxwell1, Kelly Patterson & Michael Nelson. Look for the 2nd part of this story in the future!
- As promised yesterday, I'm very pleased to announce: The first annual Historical Political Economy Conference To be held @USC on either Oct 18-19 or 19-20, 2024 Co-organized by @as_hartnett and myself
- This is my first time doing this: but are there any PhD students out there interested in HPE from an American Politics perspective who are interested in working with me on a few small papers? I don't have any PhD students at the moment, but I do have a few paper ideas.
- Today, I introduce broadstreet.blog. Broadstreet is a blog dedicated to historical political economy (HPE), which is the study of how political and economic actors have interacted over time.
- Just learned that @Boris_Heersink and I won the SPSA’s V.O. Key Award (for the best book on Southern politics) for our book Republican Party Politics and the American South 1865-1968. Very, very pleased!
- A successful PhD defense today. Say hello to Dr. Nicholas Napolio! @christiangrose, Pam McCann, and @raugpott (via Zoom) pushed Nico a bit, but he held up well! Now off to UC-Riverside in the Fall. @uscpoir
