Heard my first coronavirus joke yesterday. Heavily masked man goes into bank. Everyone looks uneasy. ‘Don’t panic,’ he shouts. ‘It’s a robbery’.

Important sentence in the judgement: “The Tribunal found in particular that the mere fact that offence may be taken to a particular statement was not sufficient to render it incapable of legal protection”. We should all breathe a sigh of relief at that.

this is what actual bravery looks like. Not waving a gay pride flag at the Last Night of the Proms.
Islamic Republic state TV reported a fake news claiming that I was raped by 3 men, I received a death threat from a well known Basiji on an interview with BBC Persian, regime clerics call me prostitute and much more for leading #WhiteWednesdays movement against #forcedhijab

I watched the Sky news coverage of this. Over and over again we were told the perpetrator was 'mentally disturbed', on the basis of zero evidence - as if we must all be inoculated against the thought that a migrant might simply be a bad person.

The idea that men are basically hirsute savages in need of rescuing by female empathy and kindness really is tiresome. It's a sort of conceitedness.

"Where's the BLM-style outrage? The world stopped for George Floyd, a petty criminal who held a gun to a pregnant woman's stomach. Yet there is nothing for the victims of war crime." Of course not. War crimes are too uncomfortable to be the focus of white liberal fantasies.

This is idiotic. There are downsides and 'legitimate concerns' with respect to every social phenomenon. Also it's sinister. Underneath her tone of sweet reasonableness is a totalitarian instinct. 'You are not allowed to have these thoughts'.

the article in Metro is extraordinary. It’s clear the transman parent wants his four-year-old child to affirm his own gender change, so eagerly encourages the child’s gender confusion for his own ends. The very opposite of what a parent should do.

Ah yes, those German journalists who thought Trump's warning that Germans were too reliant on Russian energy was just so gauche!

Everything in this is appalling. The disgusting attack against Sarkar, the tweet supporting the attack, the insistence by Jones that the person who wrote that tweet should lose his job. A rising spiral of deranged nastiness.
Hi @UniofOxford, can you please release a statement confirming your Deputy Director of External Affairs and International Strategy has been fired by the end of the day.

hang on - aren't we already in the middle of Islamophobia Awareness Month? Just how much 'awareness' are we expected to muster on Sadiq Khan's say-so, at any given moment?

This, set alongside the BBC Singers fiasco, shows that the BBC’s senior management regard great culture the way spoiled children regard their expensive toys; to be played with, mocked or smashed, as the mood takes them.

Not paranoid at all. Anyone who knows anything about higher education will know some students who've dared to express libertarian or conservative views in class have been shamed by their leftie prof., and had their assignments marked down.

the Eton boys are so much more clear-headed and principled than their headmaster.
This letter/petition from Eton pupils to their headmaster, challenging the sacking of one of their teachers for a filmed lecture containing ideas that were deemed intolerable, is a masterclass in rigorous critical thinking. The pupils have my full support. gopetition.com/petitions/lett…
