We call on Council President Nury Martinez to resign, and we want a full and thorough investigation into who else was part of this, and how deeply this is rooted into the foundation of City Hall.

LA County Sherffis just murdered this 18 year old child as he was running away for his life two days before Father’s Day. Ive known this young mans father for years and hearing his pain is something I never want anyone to go through. #JusticeForAndresGuardado #DefundThePolice

WE DID IT! We ran this campaign to build community power for workers, immigrants, the unhoused, people of color, young people, renters, and all of us who have been neglected by our city officials. Now, we’re bringing this movement into City Hall. ¡Sí se pudo!

Today LA City Council is voting, again, to criminalize homelessness. You may remember this from a few weeks ago, a few years ago, or if you moved here to avoid the Dust Bowl. It's because they've done the same thing since the Great Depression. And it's never worked. (thread)

Killed two days before Christmas as she was trying on dresses for her quinceañera. I’m heartbroken and angry at another senseless killing by the LAPD. My only hope is that this serves as the impetus to finally reconstruct what public safety means in LA. (a thread)
The child @LAPDHQ killed yesterday has been identified by the coroner as Valentina Orellana Peralta. Rest In Peace, baby girl.

In Echo Park lake with a 1000 of my closest friends. We are not going to stop until we defund the police, get rid of Jackie Lacey, and transform this society. #PeoplesBudgetLA #CareNotCops

We loved hosting LA Pride in our district! One of the best parts was watching people’s faces the moment they realized it was the real @JanelleMonae on the @ACLU_SoCal float!

🎉 We’re in first place!🎉 This is historic, it’s nearly impossible for a challenger to beat an incumbent in the primary. We faced millions of dollars in right-wing attacks from Wall Street landlords, the police union, and big developers— but thanks to *you*, we’re on top!

The harm done to our city by the majority of Latino Councilmembers will take years to undo. But the Black & Brown solidarity I shared with @EunissesH and @ib2_real to support @mikebonin showed me that the next generation is ready to lead with unity and love.

We’re up by almost 1,000 votes! If these trends hold, our movement will win Council District 13! The new generation is here to stay. We will end this era of backroom deals, stop pitting us against each other, and bring in a politics of love and solidarity.

It has come to my attention that the leaked audio released over the weekend repeatedly mentions both myself and my opponent, with people in the tapes saying, “I want to make sure we protect Mitch,” referring to Mitch as “[Nury’s] guy,” and disparaging myself as the “opponent.”

15,000 workers just authorized the biggest strike in modern US history. Why? Because a single mom on the average housekeeper salary must work *17 hours a day* to afford housing. Because the cooks who feed us must work 3 jobs to feed their families. Because they deserve better.
