A 14 year old child trying on dresses for her quinceañera was killed by LAPD today. We waste $8 million dollars a day paying for these failed responses. We’re taught to call 911 for help, but too many ppl get killed after calling. We need life affirming responses to crises.

The rise in crime the media needs to be talking about is the 5 shootings in 10 days by LAPD.

If not police than who?: community health workers, community peace builders, social workers, clinicians, doctors, teachers, librarians, school nurses, and more.

I am disgusted and appalled by things said by sitting Council President Nury Martinez, Councilmembers De Leon and Cedillo, and Federation of Labor leader Ron Herrera.

The latest ballot data drop puts us at 292 ballots ahead of the incumbent!

KDL has disqualified himself from public office. We've tried calls for resignation. We've tried censures. We've tried leaving chambers to break quorum. He has refused accountability over and over. So today I spoke to him directly and tell him, yet again, that he needs to go.

The body camera footage released yesterday is appalling and deeply disturbing. I am devastated for the families and loved ones of Takar Smith, Keenan Anderson and Oscar Sanchez, and I am outraged for our city.

Another day without resignations. The audacity of Cedillo, De Leon, and Martinez still staying in their seats after the President of the United States of America has called them to resign does not surprise me. They were never about the people. They’re only about themselves.

Don’t tell me that $800k is too expensive for building a housing unit that will house people for generations - when the county currently spends $1 million a year incarcerating one young person in an LA County probation camp.

You can’t fix this because it’s not broken. It’s working as intended. Our communities are seen as disposable. The safest communities have the most resources not the most police.

We’ve done what many people told us would be impossible. We won this race for #CD1 & will be going to city hall! The people of CD1 have spoken, calling for change by voting to prioritize affordable housing, investments in our elders and young people, and support for renters. 🧵

We cannot criminalize people into housing that does not exist.

The latest vote count confirms what we’ve said all along: #CD1 demands true, honest, & responsive representation in city hall. We are so grateful to everyone who has placed their faith in our movement. Let’s get this fam!🙏🏽💛✊🏽 #whenyoufightyouwin #peoplepower #nodirtymoney

The behavior in this video — like much of the behavior we’ve seen from KDL recently — is incompatible with holding elected office. Resign.
RIGHT NOW: Disgraced Los Angeles City Councilmember Kevin De Leon JUST assaulted local organizer Jason Reedy. @kdeleon is out here assaulting people AGAIN. He was caught on those racist anti-Black leaked tapes and now he’s assaulting Black folks. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
