The contact hypothesis is a leading theory in social psychology--the idea is that interpersonal contact between groups, under favorable conditions, reduces prejudice. What do we learn from the new wave of pre-registered contact experiments? 🧡

If there was a Nobel Prize for advising, Daron Acemoglu would likely win that too. In 2018, @dongheejo68 and I mapped out his past advisees. 117 since 1994, or roughly 5 per year (~1/4 of a typical cohort!) [1/2]

Love this paper on caste identity and labour supply by Suanna Oh (suannaoh.com/home): almost half of the workers refuse to do a 10-minute caste-incongruent task even when offered 10x their daily wage!

India's lockdown has led to ~50% drop in fruit and vegetable volume at Azadpur wholesale market in Delhi (Asia's largest wholesale fruit and veg market), though some signs of recovery. More from work with @BenRothEcon, @nadhanael: [1/N]

🚨 Revised JMP on intergroup contact 🚨 Some (me) wondered whether this day would ever come. To celebrate I'd like to tell a story about cricket, caste, and different types of intergroup contact. Are you sitting comfortably? mfr.osf.io/render?url=htt… 1/N

Economists interested in gender norms typically focus on norms that constrain the behaviour of women. But what about those that constrain men? @iedarm is spearheading this work on masculinity norms, and she is on the job market this year (iedamatavelli.com). A 🧡

I am a British citizen living in Canada and today I got $1200 in the post from Donald Trump. I left America in summer 2018. The targeting isn't great is it?
