It seems I'm always talking about death these days, but every time I think I'm done, someone else gets taken away. Sunday it was the kind, wry, supportive, smart, wonderful Chuck Verrill, @StephenKing's legendary editor and agent. I feel lucky to have had 17 years to know him.

- I am very sad to share the news of another death: as reported recently online, Robert McGinnis, the great painter of book covers and movie posters and fine art, and a dear friend for over 20 years, died last month at the age of 99.
- It broke my heart today to read of the death of Paul Auster, one of my favorite writers since reading the New York Trilogy in the late 80s. So many other great books since: THE MUSIC OF CHANCE, LEVIATHAN, MOON PALACE, 4321. Do yourself a favor and read him. He's worth it.

- Love this so much! One of my favorite stores in the world, going all-in for Hard Case Crime's 20th.
- One of our earliest books and still one of my all-time favorites, Ed McBain's THE GUTTER AND THE GRAVE, is on sale today in ebook form for just $1.99! Kindle, Nook, BookBub -- on sale everywhere, but I think just today and tomorrow. If you were thinking of reading it sometime...
- It's going to be a long night. Sure, you could watch the news. But why not read a good book instead?
- Just in! Advance copies of our big summer title, @vondoviak ’s raucous road trip across 1970s America. Two cousins from Texas, a truck full of stolen weed, a homicidal sheriff & dreams of glory that might just end in flames. An absolutely irresistible book.
- And here's the announcement, as covered by Entertainment Weekly:
- Coming in 2022: a long-lost crime novel (unseen for 60+years!) by science fiction grandmaster Robert Silverberg. Featuring a new intro by the author and 3 bonus stories from his early days writing for the pulps...
