    3 years ago today I defended my PhD...in my kitchen in the 1st zoom viva of 1st official UK lockdown! Where has the time flown?! Definitely need to get properly cracking on finding a publisher...but during a hectic teaching term, feels good to pause & remember that special day!😁

    My new MA module 'Small States & International Security' has been approved!🥳Can't wait to teach it @warstudies @KCLSecurity next academic year. Coming from small island myself, it means a lot to teach our issues at a leading institution usually dominated by studying Great Powers

    I moved to London in 2013 with a suitcase & a dream. Over 7yrs, I got an MA, PhD, 2 cats, job I love @DSD_Kings, a house, fell in love, & made friends who've become family. Today, another dream came true as I officially became a dual citizen of Britain & Malta ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🇲🇹 #British 🎉

    I finally walked across that big stage, 2.5ys after defending my PhD (thanks covid!). 1 of the BEST days of my life, w/my @KCLSecurity @warstudies colleagues & family. As our Principal said, at KCL we don't just learn 'to make a living but to make a difference'💕 #AcademicChatter

    I officially passed my probation in Dept @warstudies @KCLSecurity @KingsCollegeLon this week! Higher ed. still has many challenges, but today I'm also deeply grateful to be living in my favourite city, working at an institution whose motto is to 'make the world a better place' <3

    9yrs ago today I took decision that changed my life as I accepted offer to study @KingsCollegeLon. MA, PhD, 5yr GTA at 4 Unis, 1yr job @DSD_Kings later, last Sept I accepted permanent post @warstudies & still so proud to be at KCL whose vision is 'make the world a better place'💡

    My great grandfather emigrated from Malta to US then Canada in 1924 & established himself as highly sought after artist & theatre decorator (~100 theatres!) Whilst in Montreal for #ISA2023 I went on a wholesome treasure hunt to connect with my heritage & found his plaques! 😊🇲🇹🇨🇦

    I'm taking up a permanent post back in @warstudies, where I read for PhD! Ecstatic as permanent is closest we get to tenure in UK. Despite being youngest permanent staff, am SO excited to get to work & make a difference as Lecturer in National Security Studies!🥳 #AcademicTwitter
