    Dear Twitter friends. My wife Alex is in hospital today for surgery. She will probably need a few months to recover. I'm taking a short break from work to look after her. Thank you to my wonderful colleagues at @yorkshirepost for their support at this time.

    This is my mum, Margaret. She is 87 years old today. We can't visit her because of the lockdown. If any of you were kind enough to extend a birthday greeting, I will pass it on when I speak to her tonight on the phone. Stay safe everyone X
