Exactly. It’s well known that Cleveland used the statue extensively for his own personal comfort and convenience and then took possession of it personally after he left office.
I can't wait for the press to find out about France's so-called "gift" of the Statue of Liberty, accepted in 1886 by then-President Grover Cleveland.
    Readers added context
The President was authorized and directed to accept the statue by a joint resolution of Congress on March 3, 1877. As of 5/13/25, there is no indication Congress will be voting on acceptance of Qatar's plane. millercenter.org/the-presidency…

Pretending Joe Biden has voluntarily surrendered the presidency in an act of historic self -denial is almost as big a lie as the claim for the last six months that he was competent to serve four more years. #Biden2024 #Biden

Wouldn’t have made any difference if he’d withdrawn and every single one of his voters had voted for Cuomo. Do the math.

Makes total sense. Every time my neighbors yell abuse at me I run Old Glory upside down on the flagpole.

We’ve gone from “ he had a cold” to “it was just one bad night” to “he’s only sentient from 10am to 4pm” to “it was the greatest betrayal of a leader since Peter heard the cock crow”.   In about 48 hours.

My seven year old came up to me and said, “Daddy, does the fact there’s going to be a double Senate runoff in Georgia place in doubt your previously expressed confidence that the capital gains tax and payroll tax changes Biden was planning won’t be implemented after all?”

We will look back and marvel one day at the fact that a TV producer with an undergraduate science degree and a 16 year old Scandinavian schoolgirl essentially controlled for years British national debate on the most important environmental issue of our age.
Climate catastrophism nonsense. Climate change is real and we need to respond. But this is just scare-mongering and much of it has already been discredited.

I get it now #nbc. The delay isn't an hour. It's 25 years. To a business model where networks could ignore their viewers in pursuit of cash

And Pilate said to Jesus, “Are you the king of the Jews?” And Jesus said, “I am not. But wait a couple of thousand years. You’re in for a real treat.” #KingOfTheJews

What? Wait. I thought gerrymandering was a Jim Crow 2.0 thing?

I’m wondering when this “modern world” began. Rome? Athens? Persia? Egypt? Assyria? Progressives seem to think there was some pacific state of nature before the drive for land and resources led to conflict and oppression. I’d love to know when it ended.
