My friends in DC are catatonic. They can't believe what is happening to them. This is nothing like 2017, they are acting like this is the apocalypse, because for them, it is.

- The sleight of hand required to make "antifascist" sound like a bad thing... (Remember when the United States, as a government and its policy, was officially, militantly antifascist during World War II?)
- Iβm in a group that organizes outings to museums, galleries, performances, etc. Membership skews 70/30 female. I hear two conversations again and again: 1. βWhere are all the men?β 2. βStay away from him; he will hit on you / I reported him for inappropriate behavior.β
- Videos like these are radicalizing in the same way as police body-cam footage. Five person household. Everyone medicated for chronic disease and mental illness (both kids βautisticβ); just welcomed another baby into this dysfunction, and itβs all on your dime. This chick explains in excruciating detail that her entire family is on Medicaid. She needs it. Husband on disability is their only income. 3 kids. TWO houses. Just listenβ¦ What do you want to tell her?
00:00 - I lived in an uber-lux apartment building for a year in the 2010s and watched the endless stream of uber drivers, dry clean dropoff, food delivery, dog walkers, housekeepers, Amazon deliveries, nannies. The upper class American lifestyle is fueled by cheap immigrant labor.
- Replying to @expatanonNone of them have even lost their own jobs but they all know others who have. Possibly some will. These people are actually my friends, they are good people, the fact that our politics have diverged is irrelevant (to me). They feel everything they've worked for is gone.
- Replying to @sabreenaGSHow did they imprison you? You seem to be highly educated and prosperous. Are you somehow unable to move freely?
- Gender dysphoria is in the DSM-5 and is predicated on a spiritual, unfalsifiable belief of being βborn in the wrong body,β suggesting a gendered soul that exists separately from material reality. Society must be completely reoriented if we accept this belief, hence we do not.Replying to @dilanesperI'll just pick one particular line of response-- at least 30 people (5% or so of all responses) responded by saying trans people are mentally ill and we shouldn't cater to their delusions. And I'm sorry, but people who say that, say that with glee. They mean it as an insult.
- Canadian multiculturalism is failing and itβs the fault of the Canadians for not learning Punjabi language and culture. What can you do with people like this?Replying to @JJ_McCulloughI think a multicultural society should be defined by some minimal level of literacy towards the multitude of cultures present. I think Canadians are failing this test quite badly, but thatβs rarely acknowledged because it complicates one of our proudest national myths.
- When people blurt out that mortgage fraud is widespread, everybody who writes plagiarizes, etc., I feel like a total rube. I wouldn't even dream of doing these things. Where do these people get their value systems from???How many members of Congress, federal judges, governors, attorneys general, and other federal and state leadersβRs and Ds alikeβhave submitted home-loan applications with falsehoods in them? Too many, I think, to make felons of them all.
- Replying to @expatanonI think compared to Angelinos who actually lost their homes, Washingtonians are presently more fearful about the future. The former hope to get insurance payouts and fast tracked permits to rebuild (we will see). The latter think their way of life is over.
- 8/10 graduate programs this math prodigy applied to rejected her because she didnβt have the proper credentials. Absolutely deranged mindset that must be extinguished from this earth.Earlier this year, a 17-year-old high school student named Hannah Cairo solved a 40-year-old mystery about how waves behave, surprising and exciting mathematicians. @KSHartnett reports: quantamagazine.org/at-17-hannah-cβ¦
- βWas he a groyper?β βHow long has it been since you first heard this word?β βAbout ten minutes.β
- Steven Miller and AOC are both wrong. Mamdani didn't win because of demographic change; he didn't win by assembling a working-class coalition. He won by dominating with rich white very liberal NYC voters. It's important to deal with reality as it is, not as we'd like it to be.
