- Replying to @LordsManorHelmet and gambeson with some kind of polearm would work, as long as they’re distinctly tougher and better than militia. But I think them being personal, relatively experienced and moderately of means soldiers/minor nobles/mercenaries that have chainmail would also work fine.
- Replying to @LordsManorI would just create a third resource, tinder. So you would have: Logs: can be processed into planks or tinder Planks: building only Tinder: heating only Tinder could be a byproduct of clearing brush and felling trees (sticks, shrubbery, leaves, etc) but also charcoal or sap.
