So, apparently, the statistics in the NEJM report on compassionate use remdesivir without a control group were wrong. 53 authors and not one knows how to conduct a Kaplan-Meier analysis??

- Replying to @NoopurRajeMD and @JagSinghMDThank you very much for sharing this experience. It is enormously helpful to hear the medical professional’s perspective— both clinical and personal. I am so glad to hear Jag is doing better- praying for continued steady recovery.
- Replying to @DGlaucomfleckenAs a cardiologist, I approve this video. And I'm definitely asking the mountain range question in the future.
- Next trial... DAPA-Breathing. Randomize anyone who is breathing to DAPA vs. placebo. I suspect it will show benefit.
- Just today, I have had DMs from several cardiologists in states with plenty of COVID-19 cases where they say that their partners are refusing to stop doing elective procedures— justifying them as “urgent”. This is nuts.Sadly, for the docs still trying to schedule elective procedures, it’s not about the patients, it’s about the money.
- Italy COVID-19 Update (Day #3)-- continued good news with slowing of the growth rate for both cases and mortality.
- Replying to @PrakritiGabaThank you for sharing this. All of us are with you in spirit and appreciate the tremendous effort despite the emotional strain. You are all heroes.
- Replying to @VPrasadMDMPHAre you saying that hydroxychloroquine is not one of the steps in the Krebs cycle?
- Although Italy had its worst day to date (6557 new cases, 793 deaths), in the "silver lining" department, it’s clear that COVID-19 cases and deaths are not growing exponentially in Italy anymore.
- 1/n- Congratulations to my brother, Josh Cohen, who successfully ran the Boston Marathon twice today (yes, you read that correctly). This morning he ran the official marathon, finishing in 3:25. And then he got in a van, went back to the starting line, and ran it again...
- Replying to @Uqayyum123 @DavidLBrownMD and 17 othersA few years ago, someone explained to me that the goal on Twitter isn't to convince the person you are arguing with (which is almost always impossible). It's to convince everyone else.
- Italy COVID-19 Update (Day 5) Sorry I'm late with this today- had to go grocery shopping for flour and kosher salt for my daughter (who is an amazing cook!). Growth rates continue to ↓ for both death and cases.
- My first ever tweetorial! In the last 48 hours, there has been a lot of buzz in the lay press (WSJ, CNN) about a new observational study of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) in COVID-19 (ijidonline.com/article/S1201-…).
- Replying to @CMichaelGibsonIMHO (and experience), burnout of physicians is almost always due to loss of control of one's professional life (whether real or perceived). Most physicians enjoy working hard, but they want to feel like they have some say over what they do and when they do it.
