As interns we did Pap smears in the outpt women’s clinic in LA county. Majority of our pts spanish speaking. I was consenting pts by pronouncing “Papanicolaou” as “Papanicoloco”. My chaperoning RN decided to tell me after SIX MONTHS I was obtaining consent to do a crazy Pap.
