Let me be clear: I worked this entire year to elect conservative candidates who will pass conservative laws, including school choice. To achieve that goal we need a Texas House Speaker chosen by a majority of Republicans in accordance with the Republican Caucus Rules.

No. By requiring counties to pay fuel tax, the state is essentially requiring a county to levy a property tax at least in part to pay a fuel tax. So the taxpayer is essentially paying not only for their personal fuel tax, but also their county’s fuel tax through their property

Outrageous: The Texas House just passed a bill to EXEMPT GOVERNMENT ENTITIES FROM GAS TAXES... but does not give individual Texans any tax break at all. We should be putting TAXPAYERS first... not the GOVERNMENT. I voted NO.

Today, I was appointed Chair of the House Select Committee on Congressional Redistricting. The Committee will hold three initial public hearings on July 24 at 2PM in Austin, July 26 at 11AM in Houston and July 28 at 5PM in Arlington. The public is invited to testify in person

Decency. I helped lead the effort for Cook, and our entire operation was about restoring respect in the House. And respect starts with extending the common courtesy of congratulating the speaker of the house on winning, even if it wasn’t your guy. Lead by example.
