I think there’s a perfectly reasonable explanation for Governor Abbott’s Twitter meltdown yesterday and his attacks on citizens over vouchers.
Abbott’s team polls everything and my guess is they’re polling and don’t like what they see.

- FACT: Texas does not have the budgetary means to fund two educational systems. So shifting education funds into the ESA voucher system will eventually require them to shift money out, essentially defunding the public school system. It is irresponsible to use taxpayer money to“They make it sound like you can't have school choice and robust public schools,” @GovAbbott said. “That's completely false. The reality is we can have the best public schools in America and also have school choice at the very same time. It does not have to be one or the other.”
- There's a social media post going around revealing that Greg Abbott's wife is on the Board of a private school and questioning how that would be a conflict of interest. My State Senator @kevinsparkstx sits on the board of a Midland Private school with none other thank West

- Does this also constitute "bribery"? A vote in exchange for an endorsement? Asking for a friend. #txlegeLook what landed on my desk, an endorsement from YOUR Favorite President @realDonaldTrump
- Paul Colbert, a former Texas House member and education budget chair - and maybe one of the few people in Texas who truly understand school finance —testified at the House Public Ed committee on Thursday. Colbert blew apart the narrative being pushed by Gov Abbott and @TPPF that
- So many lies here just on his post. Abbot ran against rural Rs with out-of-state money and by talking about the Border. Trump came in behind and endorsed against the rural R candidates to clean up. Abbott did not tell rural voters he wanted vouchers. He did not tell ruralStill can't get over the political earthquake that rocked Texas on Tuesday. 77% of the incumbents we targeted for voting against school choice lost outright or were forced to runoffs. - Ummm, we don't have teacher's unions in Texas, could it be that is why they don't meet with you? Good luck gaslighting the teachers in this state, it's not hard for them to look at their paychecks and immediately know what you have done and haven't done for teachers. Not one of the teachers’ unions helped pass any teacher pay raise in the last 10 years. They don’t even bother to meet with me. If you are a teacher, I’m not sure what these unions are doing with your dues. Teacher pay increases have been the Senate and my initiative. Teachers’
- Replying to @brianstelter @scottbraddock and @JohnMoralesTVMy munchkin was in Orlando yesterday but we got her back to Austin last night. My Goodness. Praying for all the folks.
- Their plan for funding "school choice" is just a shell game. The "pot" of money for public schools is made up of LOCAL taxes revenue and state funds dedicated to education by the constitution. And yes, vouchers will take funds from public schools because funding is attachedWill school choice defund public schools? Absolutely not. That narrative is, as Governor @GregAbbott_TX says, "completely false."
