1/5 BREAKING: Today the FT reports that Labour and the Lib Dems will focus their resources in a non-aggression pact for their target seats.
Game on for #ProgressiveAlliance. This is a great first step, partly down to hard work of our activists up and down the country. Thank you.
❗️Steve Reed has just been caught in a £22bn lie.
He claimed he had secure £104bn in “private investment” for water upgrades - funded by a 36% hike in our bills.
An FOI revealed £22bn of those bill hikes will go to shareholders & creditors.
We need public ownership.
💰BREAKING:
Down from £100bn, the cost of nationalisation is now... £1bn.
By the way, the ownership model that "doesn't work" in Paris just made the Seine swimmable again after 100 years.
We encourage Steve Reed to take a dip in the Thames.
💥This is bang on from @TheGreenParty’s @carla_denyer.
❌🗳️So many have lost faith in our elections because they know our system doesn’t listen to them and their vote won’t count.
That’s why we need proportional representation and fair votes for all.
NEW: Compass poll of Labour members has dropped.
91% support a wealth tax, 84% want to end the two-child limit, 74% want to stop suspending dissenting MPs - and that's just the start.
The government is out of step with the mainstream of the Labour Party.
In the @Independent.
'There is an anti-Tory majority in the country but not a Labour majority. Labour can win in the cities, the Lib Dems in the suburbs and more rural areas – the progressive parties win together or lose apart.'
@Neal_Compass spoke to @Independent👇
82% of the British public want water in public hands.
Yet the Government won’t even consider it.
As their review closes -without asking about public ownership- we joined forces with @38degrees to deliver a message to Steve Reed in person.
Well, almost.
Watch & share!👇
We didn't get a say when #ThamesWater extracted billions in dividend payments or diverted millions for environmental cleanups, all the while raising bills by 36%.
We didn't get a say when they got bailed out through our bills.
There's only one solution: public ownership.👇
🚩Great to see Ed Davey acknowledging the foundational role First Past the Post plays in holding back our politics today.
🔶As he says here, a switch to PR could "transform the nature of British politics" and better enable us to tackle the perma-crisis world we now live in.
Only 39% of people think their vote had any effect on results in recent elections, polling for @BestForBritain shows.
Proportional representation will ensure every vote counts.
To get it, we need to build a #ProgressiveAlliance.
