    This statement suggests that education in any language, other than English, is detrimental to children’s education. All reputable academic research & practice demonstrates that bi-lingual education has a hugely positive impact on cognitive development * learning for all children.

    The Comhairle is very happy to allow pupils in the Western Isles to cheer Scotland on in schools, on Mon 14th June, as they feature in their first major tournament since France ’98. This has been communicated to all our Head teachers. #Alba #Scotland #EURO2020

    The Comhairle is urging people to obey Scottish lockdown laws and not travel to beauty spots in the Islands. Today's Guardian newspaper contained this photo with the caption ‘Loch Rog on Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. People will be able to drive to beauty spots from Wednesday.’
