My mom is part of a group sponsoring a family of Syrian refugees (a widowed mom and her two kids) arriving tomorrow. Mom went shopping at a Middle Eastern grocery store to stock up those new place ... (continued)

- Replying to @chrishofleyTurns out this guy had come over from Syria three years ago. Saw an opportunity to pay it forward a bit. Just a happy story of people doing nice things for other people.
- This is Tonka. It’s his first time at the park and he’s a little shy. Was wondering if you’d be his friend. 12/10 I’ve never wanted anything so bad
- This is Ned. He’ll be conducting your check-pup today. Please don’t giggle when you see him. He’s $232,000 in debt from medical school and would appreciate some respect. 13/10
- Not letting you into a restaurant, bar, whatever private business because you refuse to get vaccinated is not trampling on your rights. Can we move on from that ridiculous argument soon?
- Imagine having daughters (or sons, frankly) and thinking that Ryan Whitney post is anything other than gross. And then arguing with “aww we can’t laugh at anything anymore”. Comedy isn’t dead, but rape jokes I think most of us can agree we can live without. Yes, woke, blah blah.
- Replying to @chrishofleyHe also suggested a couple trays of sweets, which he said they would like. When my mom went to pay for it all, he took the desserts aside and told her that was his contribution, a way of helping her for helping them.
- An anonymous donor and their $8,405 just brought us to...wait for it...$100,000 for youth mental health @CHEO. One. Hundred. Thousand. Dollars. In one week. What just happened?! WeLoveCHEO.ca Hey @mattskubeCTV!
- Oh hi. I don't know what to say. We just got another donation to our @CHEO fundraiser. And by donation, I mean Brian Alkerton is donating $100,000 to the cause. $100,000. Bringing us over $215,000 for youth mental heath services.
- I'm not going to tweet during whatever we're calling going on downtown tonight other than this: go home. The vast majority of us feel plenty free and love living in this city, but are once again embarrassed to be making headlines for a temper tantrum with no purpose.
- I just got a DM that I shouldn’t have shaved my head because salons aren’t open yet. Let me be very clear. I don’t ever shave my head. Even if salons were open, I still would have had a friend do it. We raised $235K for youth mental health. Enough.
- Pretty safe bet that yelling at the @hydroottawa social media team isn't going to speed up this process.
- Replying to @chrishofleyShe asked the guys at the front about some favourite Syrian items that would be familiar to the family and they called on one of the staff stocking the shelves who happened to be a young Syrian guy. He took over mom’s shopping cart and took her through the aisles.
