2 years ago, I left the AI startup world in SF to jump into federal policymaking at DC because of the action around industrial policy Last week was my final week at the Department of Energy working on supply chains/critical minerals + AI policy. A few thoughts/reflections:

Even lower hanging fruit: we should pay congressional staffers more. Starting pay is ~45-50k and these ppl actually write the bills! LBJ even recognized that the relatively low congressional pay meant that executive branch agencies had much better talent
