Seriously! As a 3rd gen Holocaust survivor I am personally offended that you are using the memory of survivors to attack an investigative report that reveals that thousands of Jewish children are being deprived of an education.

Today is a good day for Hasidic children in New York State. Hasidic leaders were unsuccessful in their efforts to elect a governor who promised to make no changes in failing Hasidic Yeshivas. There is hope for change. Hasidic children deserve better.

I’ve been shocked into silence the last few days since learning about the thousands of women from the Orthodox Jewish community who attended gatherings where (male) Rabbis spoke to them of the dangers of the internet and the importance of being modest.

Mazel tov! My 9 year old son got his first science lesson today. The teacher taught him and his classmates that the earth is in the middle and the sun revolves around it 🤪🤔😕. My son who is obsessed with the planets, informed the teacher how the planet system actually works!

Denying women access to the internet is dangerous, traps them and keeps them in abusive situations. If you are an Orthodox Jewish woman reading this, please know that you have a right to access information. You have a right to learn about resources to help yourself.

Today I will drop my son off at his Hasidic Yeshiva at 8:45. Until 4:25 he will be engaged in Judaic studies. At 4:45 he will begin his academic studies, taught by a Yiddish speaking young man who has not attended High School and whose literacy level is about that of a 3rd grader

Omg! I literally just got an email from @NASA. They will be sending my son, Aaron materials. It’s moments like this that make feel that there is hope despite all the obstacles I have encountered in trying to get him an education.

“I am humbled, honored and inspired to step into my new position. The coming of the New Jewish year makes this transition especially auspicious. And I’ve learned from Naftuli @nmoster that Tikkun Olam — the Jewish value of working on behalf of social change — begins at home.”
Big news! Beatrice Weber (@beawebwriter) will succeed Naftuli Moster (@nmoster) as Yaffed's executive director, starting on October 3rd. Full statement from the board here: yaffed.org/beatrice-weber…

When I left my Hasidic marriage after 22 years and 10 children, I was shocked by how badly I was treated and how aggressively the rabbis went after me to take my children from me. Divorce is permitted in my religion, and they knew how badly I was treated in my marriage.

An open letter to Rivky on her wedding day. Rivky, my sweetheart, despite the fact that we have not spoken in years my heart is with you as you prepare for your wedding tonight and step into the next stage of your life as a married woman.

By the time I left my marriage in April 2014, in the middle of the night with my four youngest kids, I had accessed @unchainedatlast resources and knew that I could survive once I left my marriage, even if my family and community wouldn’t support me

I am finally ready to speak up. I was in an abusive marriage in the Ultra orthodox Jewish community for decades. I did all I was told. I shaved and covered my head, wore long skirts and always kept my legs covered. (Yes even at home) and definitely did not have a cellphone.
