Just before 1PM on a Saturday, passing through Gadigal Station heading towards Martin Place, and the metro is standing room only. Frequencies are currently 10 minutes, but perhaps they should be every 7 minutes or even every 5 minutes. Demand is clearly there.

I’m really appreciating the conversation between Ed Husic and Trent Zimmerman on the @ABCNews right now. Respectful, sharing common ground where relevant, but each still forcefully putting forward their perspective. #NSWvotes #NSWpol

I’m going to make a few general observations about #SydneyMetro, including the stations in this thread 🧵1/n I previously did some Tweets about the first train through the new part of the line, starting at Martin Place, which you can find below.
It’s opening day for #SydneyMetro and I’ll be doing some live Tweeting about it. The line extends the existing Tallawong (in Rouse Hill) to Chatswood line through to Sydenham under the harbour. A further Sydenham to Bankstown extension will open next year. 1/n

Hey @JoHaylen can we please permanently increase weekend frequencies on @SydneyMetro from every 10 minutes to every 7 minutes? This was today (Sunday afternoon) between Barangaroo and Victoria Cross. Standing room only. #FrequencyIsFreedom

3PM today on Sydney Metro. Standing room only again. It’s been a roaring success, people are using it. If there’s capacity to increase frequencies, then increase frequencies. If there aren’t enough trains, then buy more of them, then increase frequencies. Make it happen @JoHaylen

Road works in Bondi Junction have revealed what looks like the old tram tracks on Oxford St. It’s been hard to take a close look with all the weather, but I’m pretty sure that’s what they are. A rare sight.

A thread 🧵with thoughts on the Victoria Cross metro station after visiting during the open day. Entry today was via the (Northern) McLaren St entrance, an 800m walk from the existing North Sydney Station. 1/n

Saturday morning on the light rail. The tram isn’t even in the city yet and yet it’s standing room only. Your regular reminder that “no one uses the light rail” is not an accurate statement. Nor has it been for a while.
