I do not understand the urgency to return to school. omicron wave will be subsiding in 2-3 weeks, and in that time we can 2X vaxx MANY of the 5-12s as well as boost all parents and teachers. Why risk so much misery for 2 weeks? Sure online is shit but is it worth this risk?

maybe 'being Morrissey' should be an official position and we can elect Rick Astley to replace the incumbent who is no longer fit for the role...

Ontario is about to mass infect its kids with COVID. It is blowing my mind we are choosing this route now, when so many kids are unprotected and when we have vaccines to protect them. The peak of the highest wave in the pandemic is not the time to return to school. It is immoral.

a gentle reminder to reviewers that if you're proposing experiments that will take >1year or cost >$100k, you're not suggesting modifications — you're describing the NEXT paper. Let's stop holding science back like this eh? It ain't helping.

well they could only do that because it is a military tyranny that crushes the freedoms of the people under the jackboot of...oh wait. It's just because they actually thought about the right thing to do and did it isn't it?

My most jarring is when I go pick up takeout food - me masked, server masked…whole restaurant full of unmasked diners. It’s like going out in a snowstorm and seeing half the people in shorts and flip flops. Utterly weird contrast.

Well, way way back maybe 6 months I was tweeting about "I wonder how we will feel when a rich retired couple in Rosedale who can self isolate easily gets vaxxed but a poor family working in high risk jobs do not" and here we are. wan't this why we needed a vaxx rollout plan?

I wonder what date people will stop saying ‘you need to validate rnaseq data with RT pcr’? 2040? Please stop. It’s really silly by now.

Ever wondered if you could read 100s of metabolites and drugs in parallel using a @illumina or a @10x platform? But metabolites aren’t nucleic acids — how can that work? Check out our new preprint and read on for a thread: biorxiv.org/content/10.110….

the illusion of freedom during a pandemic and the total misunderstanding of what freedom is and how to achieve it has been paralysing in the West

The @TorontoPolice say that this is a minor traffic incident and not an attempted assault. That’s a very weird way to look at someone who has attempted to kill another person. I don’t want to live in this stupid city any more where nothing makes sense. I feel completely let down.

I absolutely agree with you. If our leadership *really* wanted kids back in schools they would have taken the necessary measures to allow that to happen safely: Small class sizes Better Ventilation Mass testing They have not done a single of those things.
