"As Washington and Beijing engage more and more in geopolitical competition, we should not lose sight of the passionate longing for freedom that people in China still hold. We should support their aspirations at every opportunity." Me testifying @SFRCdems: foreign.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/…

It's painful to watch, knowing what is going to happen to those who chanted and knowing the level of control the CCP has over the Chinese society, but right now, I just want to say: young people in China, the country is yours. I love you and support you! 年轻人,中国是你们的!

As a mainlander who has been robbed of any collective political action since birth, I want to say to Hong Kongers: you are posing a challenge to the Communist Party that it has never experienced since it took over China 70 years ago. For that alone, you are incredible.

To those foreigners now lamenting their "beloved," "wonderful," "better-than-Paris/NY/London" Shanghai is turning into this hell, I'm sorry to say: China was wonderful is because you had been ignoring terrible abuses happened to others the whole time until now it's your turn.

I think WeChat is not actually a bridge between China and the world, it is a prison that traps the minds of overseas Chinese people as if they have never left China. It sucks everyone related to China into a black hole of censorship and surveillance.

Ask any Uyghur whether 5 years ago she thought the camps would happen. Things you can't fathom would happen can happen very quickly, as long as the Communist Party has the capacity to do so. That's why it is crucial to defend the freedoms you still have.

My biggest hope in this life is to be able to write from my heart in my native language on the land of my home country without fear. Through hard work, perseverance, and unwavering faith in the promise and decency of humanity, we together will realize it.

In the coming days, foreign journalists, diplomats, government leaders and dignitaries around the world, please do all you can to report on the events and pay attention. This is the best way you can help with the safety of the protesters.
Scale of the protest tonight in Shanghai. Notice police didn’t do anything but standing calmly watching ppl protest and shouting. It’s not benevolence. My guess: they need to ask for directives from the top authorities. Police might be stunned as nobody dares doing so for decades

Yes, Elon wants US policy towards China to be Beijing-friendly because he has huge business interests in China, but an equally important factor is that Elon is genuinely fond of China's pro-capital, anti-labor authoritarianism. Elon and CCP are ideologically aligned.

It's this time of the year again. I know I sound like a broken record, but this should be said again and again until the day it becomes a reality: the CCP must be held accountable for the Tiananmen Massacre.

Well, rumor turns out to be true, and reality seems to be even more dramatic. So China's chief wolf warrior diplomat had a child who is an American citizen via surrogacy which is illegal in China. The hypocrisy of these political elites is amusing.

In Chinese state media's coverage of Navalny's death, he was described as having been jailed for "economic crimes," "establishing community of extremism" and "supporting activists of extremism." Putin and Xi's "no-limits partnership" extends to how to characterize Navalny.

So, after 48 days, Peng Shuai unexpectedly encountered a journalist from a pro-Beijing newspaper and then casually answered her questions about an event that gandered intense international attention. Wow, so natural, very real, everyone now believes it. Congratulations, the CCP!
Chinese tennis star Peng Shuai said that she had never accused anyone of sexually assaulting her, and that a social media post she had made early last month had been misunderstood reut.rs/3e4RjB9
