Faraday Cage (aka cast iron skillet) placed over an RVAD to allow for communication with an ICD. Haven’t had to do that for a while. @narrowQRS showed me this trick in fellowship.

In EAST-AF, early rhythm control strategy led to a 30% reduction in mortality. Rhythm control also reduced every other component of the primary outcome including stroke, ACS, and HF hospitalization. This is what AFFIRM would have been if we offered ablation and anticoagulation.

I recently had my first Apple Watch referral for arrhythmia management. This patient ended up having a concealed left lateral pathway resulting in rare symptoms that were never captured on previous monitoring attempts. The tracing looks pretty good.
We’ve seen this phenomenon with all PFA catheters delivering energy on or very near to exposed metal. Stay tuned for a more thorough evaluation to be published in the near future.
