This week's NL had some big news: Writing for @nytopinion these 2 yrs has been a joy & privilege, so it's bittersweet to announce that I'll be leaving this post in August, first for a brief sabbatical & then to work on book projects. I will miss the Times & my readers immensely.
Within hours of the insurrection at the capitol, my editor asked if I'd write something, and this is still one of the most honest and important pieces to me. We should never forget how the symbols of faith were co-opted.
This is your yearly reminder that these make great gifts for anyone who wakes and sleeps, gets sick, struggles and doubts, or, in the case of Liturgy of the Ordinary, ever loses their keys.
Congratulations to my longtime (not to say, old) friend. As a NYT writer, I'm so happy to have him around...and even more so as a member of a polarized society. Even when we disagree on important things, @DavidAFrench is always smart, kind, & deeply principled (& a great writer)
1,000s of refugees (many women & children) woke up today under the threat of religious persecution or other extreme forms of violence. Pres. Trump's executive order keeps them in danger. They are legally seeking asylum, which is a human right. Learn more: worldrelief.org/stand-in-the-g…
I've been off social media for all of Lent. We had a wonderful Easter, celebrating the Resurrection. Now, I want to get back on socials to share and say:

"Tim wasn’t kind, gentle and loving to others as some sort of strategy to win the culture wars, grow his church or achieve a particular result. Tim loved his neighbors, even across deep differences, simply because he was a man who had been transformed by the grace of Jesus."
