The people are not always right. Moral courage is always necessary in leadership. And we cannot ever think that we have permanently vanquished the ideas that Trump and so many others before him have used to lead so many Americans astray.

- Every time Trump hasn’t been held accountable, he’s gotten worse. Every time.
- Comedian Pete Davidson mocked a permanently-wounded veteran. That’s bad. But the actual Republican president of the United States mocked a permanently-wounded veteran for being captured. I’m completely uninterested in GOP crocodile tears over a comedian. Pathetic. Really.
- My daughter Camille just gave birth to our first grandchild, a beautiful baby named Lila. Sweet Lila has a serious birth defect and is undergoing surgery at Vanderbilt. We would appreciate your prayers for Lila, for Lila’s parents, for the surgeons, and the NICU stay to follow.

- A no quarter order is a war crime, prohibited even in actual insurrection since Abraham Lincoln's signed the Lieber Code in 1863. No quarter for insurrectionists, anarchists, rioters, and looters.
- The potential insider trading is dreadful and possibly criminal, but what could elevate this to a historic scandal is the idea that senators may have known enough to be alarmed for themselves yet still projected rosy scenarios to the public AND failed to make sure we were ready.One other data point: Loeffler had not made a single stock transaction during the three weeks she served in office prior to this one. - Red Hen has a right to refuse service. Sarah Huckabee Sanders has a right to complain. Potential customers have a right to make their own decisions. I have a right to try to persuade people to stop politicizing everything. Freedom is easy to figure out-hard to execute.
- There is no universe that exists under which all the MAGA-folks wouldn’t be calling for Hillary’s impeachment or resignation under similar facts. So take that into account when you read their defenses.
- The mask culture war has got to be one of the dumbest and most destructive political/cultural disputes in modern American political history. And we're continuing to pay the price.
