I can't help but think about this from the bee's perspective. Imagine hobbling away from a permanently crippling injury, wandering a figurative desert chasing illusory food, and then having a paradise built around you for you to live out the rest of your days.
I asked my local entomologist @humanbyweight. To paraphrase: It can vary depending on context but for this instance she would simply be treated as an equal, just excused from resource gathering and instead would work alongside others inside the colony.
