    So, I'm getting the COVID-19 vaccine on Friday because I'm fat. I'm saying this because I think a lot of people are ashamed that they are qualified bc of this and a lot of other people are judging those who get a vaccine bc of this. 1/4

    I did not know this part of Rachel Corrie's story. When her parents visited the home she was killed trying to save, the Israelis drove a fucking bulldozer over toward the home to taunt them.

    21 years ago, Rachel Corrie was killed by an Israeli bulldozer while trying to stop the illegal demolition of a Palestinian family’s home in Gaza. Today, her parents are carrying on her work through the Rachel Corrie Foundation, organizing and lobbying for Palestinian rights.

    If I have to live in a world where my access to medical care is jeopardized because I'm fat, then yes, I am going to get this vaccine early. I don't know if a doctor would treat me the same as they treated a thin patient if I got COVID and so I am not risking that. 2/4

    I just read an article that said more than 25% of people in NYC qualify for the vaccine based on ~BMI.~ I urge everyone who qualifies to go get it, not because BMI means anything, but because medical fatphobia is real. 3/4
