"I did what anyone would do. People were there but they couldn’t step in because he was armed, but I knew I could use my helmet as a weapon.”

- Well! That was quite the 24-ish hours. We don’t quite know the full ramifications it all yet but it feels important to remember and document everything. So… a thread:
- "I lost my mother and now I watch my wife falling victim to the same powerful forces." This is some statement from Prince Harry as he and Megan launch legal proceedings against the Mail on Sunday sussexofficial.uk
- Some of my favourite memories all include my Dad standing up watching the telly. Italia 90, Barcelona 92 for the boxing... now NZ 18 #IRLVNZ
- My fave thing about the Rooney/Vardy stunt is the Philip Neville prayer hands emoji 🙏🏻
- Would these suspicious men feel better if we told them that many of us are also suspicious about how some men got and keep their jobs? And that we also wonder* if being a man helped. *lol we don’t wonder, we know.
- Stuff on Twitter doesn’t bother me too often but the ‘underlying condition’-brigade are really upsetting me. It’s not ok to dismiss a death as inevitable because someone doesn’t have perfect health (few of us do).
- Honestly can’t wrap my head around how not one of the people involved in those Beacon vaccinations didn’t stop for two seconds and think, “Hmmm, this isn’t right.” That’s what you pay for, I guess.
- My head hurts from all the contradictions.
- Shoutout to the priest in my parish who took Christmas Day to urge women to protest against the male-dominated church that doesn’t respect them and to call for the church to apologise to gay people.
- I am so frustrated that this isn't the biggest story across all media today. The State buried a woman quietly, without taking in her wishes, or telling her friends. We don't know how or where she was buried. We don't know how she died.
- Coalition formation is actually quite straightforward sometimes. See you in two weeks.
- Our jobs: Wash hands; social distance; don't visit people's homes; no sport or music or theatre; practice good hygiene etiquette; isolate if feeling poorly; wear masks; support local. Your jobs: Fix working conditions and sick leave in low-pay jobs and end Direct Provision.
- Eight years ago, I was @BiddyEarly’s first hire as Editor of @thejournal_ie. She has done wonders, building this newsroom we’re so proud of; making a mark in Irish media. Today, I get to announce I am taking over from her as Editor. And truly I am out of words (and characters)
