    Carrying firearms in schools increases risk, not safety. We are working hard to improve education in RI, and the presence of firearms in schools is detrimental to a positive learning experience. Thank you to my colleagues who voted yes on this important legislation.

    I was saddened to learn of the passing of RI’s last Tuskegee Airman, North Providence’s own Sgt. Victor Butler. He was a hero with a heart of gold. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, loved ones, and most especially to his grandson, Senate staff member Al Green.

    Imagine waking up this cold morning without a winter coat! I am extremely grateful to @ProvFirefighter and all who helped us raise funds to purchase 600 coats — one for every student at Veazie Street School.

    I was honored to be named the Italo American Club Man of the Year this evening, and grateful for the “food, family and friends.” The club’s philanthropy will help young Italian-Americans pursue a higher education.
