Okay, one more actin movie for the weekend, neuron growth cone, imaged with #3DSIM a while back when I was at @HHMIJanelia. Crazy dynamics!

We present light-sheet microscopy combined with structured illumination. This enables rapid volumetric imaging in a light-sheet format with doubled resolution. This will need a few tweets to discuss the details... 1/n biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Important change in our department: You can earn $91k as a postdoc in your first year in @LHBioinf_UTSW if you get a fellowship.
Starting this Fall, we have comprehensively revised our #PostDoc pay plan. Base salary $70K + incentives & bonuses for mentored teaching & getting grants. Concrete steps towards showing our appreciation for our PostDoc workforce. shorturl.at/LQX47 #NPAW

We present rapid projection imaging under variable viewing angles. We apply this method in light-sheet and spinning disk microscopy to visualize 3D samples in real time. We further demonstrate that 3D information can be gathered from a set of projections. nature.com/articles/s4159…

We present doubled resolution in light-sheet microscopy via multi-directional structured illumination. This enables SIM imaging at 1Hz volume rate of subcellular dynamics. nature.com/articles/s4159…

We present #FieldSynthesis , a new mathematical theorem, with applications for light-sheets: nature.com/articles/s4159… below: same time-averaged light-sheet, same initial fluorescence signal, different rates of photobleaching between conventional and Field synthesis approach.

This is nuts! With this optical unit, you can multiply the scan rate of a galvo (or any optical scanner) with the number of lenslets. In their work, a 16kHz resonant galvo becomes a 592khz scanner with a 37 lenslet pair! Wow!! By Jerome Mertz' group: osapublishing.org/optica/fulltex…

Our manuscript on oblique plane microscopy with high spatiotemporal resolution is now available in its full version: elifesciences.org/articles/57681 Good timing for the roll-out, I would say. CC: @kD3AN @amsikking @AndrewGYork @jenscs83 @Samanthastehbe2 @DougPShepherd @Bin_YANG_Optics
