- Yes, you do miss something. The issue has been raising rates when job growth exceeds full employment, which is when many minorities start getting jobs, for fear of inflation. Promoting an overshoot allows more of those jobs to persist. This isn’t inflation for inflation’s sake.Replying to @VoteMorgan39@federalreserve : we will fight racism. @CLASP_DC : “inflation reinforces economic disparities” Also @federalreserve in 2020: WE NEED MORE INFLATION. Is there something Im not getting here? How are you going to claim to help people by hurting them? @neelkashkari @RaphaelBostic

- Hey @gbenga_ajilore , That was actually in Isabel Wilkerson’s Warmth of Other Sons, a great book btw. @kairyssdal introduced it and I gave a similar analogy a friend gave me about scales falling from people’s eyes in the last few weeks. It is a great line, and so true.Great phrase from @RaphaelBostic on systemic racism: "One set of people live in a cage; the other set don't see the bars." Have been enjoying hearing Black economists on @Marketplace for the past few weeks.
