It has been nearly 24 hours since the River Fire broke out at the Bear River Campground in Colfax. Our firefighters have been working around the clock to battle this blaze. This is what it looks like behind the fire lines.
County officials are advising residents to be wary of people price gouging during the storm emergency. Residents in Lake Tahoe are reporting quotes of up to $20,000 to remove snow from roofs. This is unlawful. Contact the Attorney General's Office online or call 800-952-5225.
UPDATE: Today, large boulders that had fallen onto Old Foresthill Road near Mammoth Bar were blasted into small pieces for cleanup. The road remains closed while our Roads Division continues cleanup and repairs into next week.

Although our #PlacerCounty Animal Services Center has reached capacity & is no longer accepting new intakes, we are currently caring for nearly 190 evacuated pets from the #MosquitoFire. Our dedicated team of staff/volunteers are providing the best care possible for these pets ❤️
