    We in the PPE business sat open mouthed watching it Unfold. There was no need for shortages, or fakes, or excess profits, or corrupt middlemen. That’s all a myth. I & others like me could get almost all the right stuff out of China within 7-14 days. But we weren’t asked

    The entire PPE trade (my trade) was up in arms at the time. We were the experts & weren’t even being asked to tender. It was absurd. Added to which the trade was awash with fake CE certificates. People like me who know how to read them could spot them a mile off, but these 1/

    It happened to us 36 yrs ago. There was such a feeling of unfairness on my partner, on me but mainly that our son never got a chance to live. I’d be a liar to say you get over it, but you learn to live with it & it fades from daily memory. But writing 36 yrs later I still weep.

    A client of mine had an ancient Chinese figurine with a mysterious inscription which intrigued him. He showed it to a Chinese visitor who said it read ‘Made in Hongkong’.

    English is a nationality, not a race. Always has been. And all are either immigrants or descended from immigrants, the only question being how long ago. If Michael Rosen has a British passport, he is british.

    3/ and some of these guys were working on astronomical markups even when they had the right product. We did a couple of contracts for NHS then walked away because we didn’t want to be part of the circus. Needless what we supplied was genuine at proper prices.
