There’s no “back door” asylum loophole. The process is the same regardless of route & there’s no shortcut to refugee status. Post-Brexit, the UK also lost EU return provisions that previously applied. So DUP “close the border” narrative is a good soundbyte - but not a solution.

- My heart breaks for all who have been targeted over the last few days. The number of people who have had their lives, homes, cars & businesses destroyed, & for what? We need investment in our neighbourhoods, we need community integration & we need to remember our common humanity.
- Paula Bradshaw MLA repostedNot only are you a liar, but you know exactly what you are doing. Rather than address my actual views, you lob a false and inflammatory accusation in the middle of a race riot, when tensions are already running dangerously high. You might as well be putting targets on ourReplying to @EoinTennyson and @AndrewMuirNIOh, sod off, Eoin. I’m sick to the back teeth of condescending Alliance sneers. You were all happy enough to pile on @carlalockhart at the weekend. Your party has also led the open-borders campaign in Northern Ireland. You keep scrolling through social media; I’ll do my job.
- Yesterday evening’s vicious attack has left us all reeling, but doing damage to your own community does not advance any cause.
- Paula Bradshaw MLA repostedThis is duplicitous, even by your standards. Trying to portray decisions of the UK Home Office as the responsibility of the Justice Minister is deliberately misleading and dangerous. Where most decent people saw a vile attack, you saw a political opportunity. Utterly shameful.Moments ago I raised an urgent Point of Order, calling on the Justice Minister Naomi Long to explain how the individual involved in last night’s attack in North Belfast was able to enter Northern Ireland via Dublin in February 2023. The public deserve answers NOW.
00:00 - Paula Bradshaw MLA repostedJoint statement from the party leaders, including @naomi_long, following horrific North Belfast incident -
- I am appalled by the deeply shocking attack in Belfast this morning. My immediate thoughts this morning are with the victim, as well as with the brave people who disarmed the attacker and the witnesses who saw it. Such violence has no place in society.
- Lovely to call into the 50 Years of the Degree-Level Physiotherapy Education celebration event @niassembly this evening! The role of physiotherapist has been at the forefront of delivering system change within our health service.
- Paula Bradshaw MLA repostedAlliance opposes the proposed sanctions on teachers in the Education Inspections Bill. We will work to remove these measures as the Bill progresses through the Assembly. Anyone claiming the Bill can’t be amended is wrong. We have teachers’ backs.
00:00 - Of course I didn’t hear it, otherwise I would have dealt with it. It was picked up by the *external* mic.If the chair heard the outrageous language of the witness then a failure to challenge it is reprehensible. The standards of conduct in committees is very important. Robust debate is positive, but abusive language is totally unacceptable.
- Great to attend the official opening of Windmill Park in Saintfield today. Located behind Saintfield Community Centre, this new heritage park and public walkway is a fantastic addition to the village, creating a peaceful space for residents and visitors to enjoy.
- Great to see progress on restoring the water access point at Shaw’s Bridge. This is an important local amenity for so many who use the Lagan for recreation, sport and wellbeing.A new piece of infrastructure has been approved for the popular Shaw's Bridge area in South Belfast, to replace an important water sports access point in the park belfastlive.co.uk/news/belfast-n…
